Cheese French Toast Snack
Fork, Frying Pan, Medium and Large Bowl, Spatula
Drizzle over with chili or tomato sauce
you can add tinned tuna to the sandwich if you want a more substantial meal
2 slices wholemeal bread
50 gms butter
2 slices tasty cheese
1 cup milk
1/2 can cannelloni beans [drained]
1 sprig parsley [garnish]
salt & pepper
Slice the tomato, and reserve half.
Place a slice of cheese on each slice of bread, top one with some of the sliced tomato and cover with the other cheese topped bread.
Using a fork press the edges of the bread to seal the edges of the sandwich.
Break the egg into the medium bowl and beat using the fork, season with salt & pepper and add the milk and mix in.
Place the sealed bread into the egg mixture and allow to soak in, turn over and soak the other side.
Melt some butter and olive oil in the frying pan and carefully place the soaked sandwich and shallow fry until crisp and golden, flip over and cook the other side.
Meanwhile chop up the remaining slices of tomato and add to the canelloni beans, season to taste and add a splash of olive oil, add to the pan and warm though
Carefully remove the toasted sandwich to a plate, and serve with the beans and tomato and garnish with the parsley.
